Life Generally.

Life generally has many things to say, but we all seem to turn away.

So, lately I’ve been listening to a lot more roots hardcore punk albums. You know, bands like Black Flag, The Adolescents, Minor Threat or Descendents. Maybe it’s from playing with them over the past two weeks. Anyway, I started out with a few classic albums that I already owned, and then picked up a few others that my friends recommended.

Then, I started thinking: “What happened to hardcore that made it sound like it does today?” Sure, I like modern hardcore bands and the albums they’re putting  out, but they’re just not the same. They don’t mean as much. Did the real aggression go away?

So, I kind of want to start a band with that sound. I’m imagining something in the vein of Black Flag or Minor Threat. Just super raw, all-about-energy rock and roll.

And don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some bands out there right now with this kind of attitude. They’re all pretty great bands. Check out: Wasted Time, Government Warning and my personal favorite, Deep Sleep.

Alright, if anyone is interested in a project like this, you know how to get ahold of me. Until then, I’ll be enjoying these records and exploring my new found appreciation for 80’s hardcore punk and thrash bands. Well… and the bands inspired by their sound.

P.S. Discharge rules.
